Q: What makes Wax different than the other record collecting apps and services?

A: Wax is all about owning your record collection, not just syncing up with a database. This means you have full control to edit all the details about your records. You can even create brand new records that external services do not have, or add special notes, details, or even the price you paid for your specific copy of a record.

Q: What about records I want, but don't have yet?

A: You can put those in your Grab List.

Q: In what ways can I add records?

A: You can search for records via barcode scan, artist, album, record label, or catalog number. You can also add records manually by entering all the data yourself.

Q: Is Wax a Discogs client?

A: No. While wax searches the Discogs database for information about releases (among other sources), it does not sync with Discogs. Wax is a collection of your records, not checkboxes in a release database.

Q: Can I only add vinyl?

A: The free version of Wax is only for vinyl. You can unlock the ability to add other formats for $2.99 as an In-App Purchase.

Q: What are Crates, and how do I use them?

A: Crates are special collections of releases that you create to organize your records however you want. You can have regular Crates, which let you add whatever records you want into them, or Smart Crates, which let you set a series of rules or conditions, and any records that match those rules will automatically be in that Crate.

• To create a new Crate, tap the Crates tab, then tap the plus sign. This will give you the option of creating a regular Crate or a Smart Crate. For a regular Crate, just choose a name. For Smart Crates, you'll be presented with a series of rules to filter the records that will be in that Crate.
• To add a record to a Crate, while viewing a record, tap the "Add to Crate" button at the bottom. For Smart Crates, records are automatically added if they match the rules you set for that Crate.
• To edit your Crates, tap the Crates tab. You can delete a Crate by swiping on the Crate's row. You can edit a regular Crate's name, or a Smart Crate's rules, by tapping "Edit" in the navigation bar when viewing a Crate. While viewing a regular Crate, you can long press on a record to remove it from the Crate.

Q: Can I sync or back up my records?

A: Yes, you can sync or back up via iCloud. Tap settings, then "Sync". You can also export your records, if you'd like to do that.

Q: How do I import my collection from Discogs?

A: Tap settings, then "Discogs Import". Be sure to read the text in that view, as there are some limitations:

• Your Collection must be public to import from Discogs. Custom notes, fields, and media/sleeve grading will not be imported.
• This is not a sync - an import from Discogs will import everything it can, regardless of whether you've done an import to Wax previously.
• If you have a large collection, this is going to take a while.

Q: How do I export my records?

A: Tap settings, then "Email Export" You can export your Collection, Grab List, or both, and you can export to a human-readable list, JSON, or both.

Q: Where to the price suggestions come from?

A: Price suggestions are based on the last ten sales on Discogs.
